Three major awards were given this week: the Women’s Prize for Fiction, celebrating “excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing from throughout the world” and given to British novelist A. M. Homes for her novel May We be Forgiven; the Commonwealth Book Prize, awarded to Lisa O’Donnell for The Death of Bees, and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, given to Irish author Kevin Barry for his first novel City of Bohane.
